Renovations are finished!

Renovations were finished, and now it was time for the big clean up.

So we have been busy, very busy.    A solid week of working hard.   We have helped Darren get rid of all the materials left over from his house renovations, and then a sorted out boxes and boxes of books and bits and pieces that he brought from our old house in Tindara Avenue, in 2008.   Our old belongings mostly.

The first job was to clear out all the old timber, and metal, including an old rolladoor.    The remains of the old carport.   I pulled out the tin and wood from each side of the shed, and brushed off all the cobwebs, and checked each piece to make sure there were no redbacks lingering around, ready to bite Darren and Scott when they carried everything to the front of the house.   But all I found were a few male redbacks. which were relatively harmless.   Did they eat the female spiders?   Most unusual.

And hey presto a clean and tidy shed, which also previously contained quite a bit of junk from our old shed in Tindara Avenue.   All thrown out.   Darren looked very pleased with himself.
We filled a skip.    The front trailer was filled with tin, and galvanised iron panels, and Darren received $70 from the metal and tin merchants.   He was pleased with that.  Now both trailers are filled with old furniture and old books and toys and other assorted bits and pieces.   The council will collect all of this, for free, as long as we leave everything neatly piled on the grass verge.  We still have to do this of course.  It costs a lot of money to take rubbish to the local tip, all privately owned.    We are very fortunate in the UK, as rubbish can be disposed of for free, or at least it is part of our council rates.
Walter and Darren spent some time unravelling this piece of rope.  A good exercise in co-operation.
And finally a redback spider!   Found in the leg of a plastic chair.    Typical place for redbacks to live.    This spider was very dead.
A finished room, or at least it is nearly finished, just needs an electrician to finish the wiring and the air conditioning unit installed, and a few other small pieces finished off.   All our old teak furniture has been cleaned and oiled and looks very smart.  Walter and Scott taking a well earned rest on the couch.
Rest and relaxation will now be in order.  That is, once we arrange all the items in the two trailers, neatly, in piles, for the council to collect.    And then we can rest.   Definitely.
