On Monday, Walter took Brian and Susanne into London to see the sights. They decided to take a sightseeing bus around London and get off when they wished to see a landmark more fully. However, this was an expensive and very slow process, and in hindsight it would have been quicker to take tubes or local buses around the city.
The first stop was Harrods where they were impressed with the opulence of the building as well as the goods for sale. The food hall was particularly impressive with its exotic items for sale, at exotic prices too. Brian and Susanne decided that they would save their money and spend it in another shop, a lesser one maybe, but better value for money.
Back to the bus stop again, where they waited patiently for the next sightseeing bus. Or is Brian having a little snooze as well. He has his eyes closed. An important stop. Trafalgar Square and the necessary photo in front of the lion.
Waiting for a ride on the horse? No it is the Horse Guards of course. How do these soldiers sit for so long without moving at all. Well trained, both horse and rider!
Brian, this is as close as you are going to get to the Prime Minister, in Downing Street. Once it was possible to take a photo of the front door of 10 Downing Street, but due to the IRA, and their persistent bombing of London during the 1980's/1990's, the street was closed off more than twenty years ago.
And the most photographed landmark in London. Big Ben, plus the Houses of Parliament. A very exciting moment for Brian and Susanne. They really are in London.
And back home again, to relax and make notes of their visit to London.
And off again the next day for more adventures.
