Ramatuelle

Ramatuelle is a picturesque and historical little hill top village, situated in the hills behind St Tropez.   And if approached from St Tropez it is a fairly straight run up to Ramatuelle.   That is once you have survived the long queues of traffic on the St Tropez road.

However, we approached the village from the winding coast road, via the beach resorts, St Clair, Cavaliere, la Rayol, Cavalaire, and then up the extremely narrow and twisty road to Ramatuelle.   All very picturesque, but equally nauseating, which removes the scenic value of the trip.

We stopped only once, in order to take photographs of the beautiful coastline.  We should have, however, stopped at some of the small beaches along the way, in order to give our heads and stomachs a little break, from the relentless twisty roads.
And finally Ramatuelle, which was built as a circular village on a hill to defend it against the enemies.   It was known in the middle ages as Ramatuella, and was part of an area ruled by the moors.
And time for lunch.    Plus a sit down to stop the world from reeling, after the twisty roads.    Everyone looks glum in this photograph, and no wonder, as we are all feeling very nauseated, except for Steve and Walter, hardy souls.
Patrick and Donna, the newly weds, posing for the cameras.
A glimpse of Jackson and Isabel through this lovely twisted tree.
Once we all recovered from the car journey, we enjoyed looking around the little village.    However we felt that although Ramatuelle had historical significance, it was not as picturesque or as large as Bormes or Hyeres.

And we did not take the twisty coastal road back to the campsite.
