Camping - Australian style

We took great interest in the array of campers and tents on our recent trip to the Second Valley Camping Ground on the Fleurieu Peninsula.    After seeing all the camping gear at the Adelaide Camping and Caravanning Show, we were looking forward to seeing some of it in action.   And we were not disappointed.

The trailer tent with a platform, which folds up into a trailer, when in transit.    I think the owners of this rig left it on site as within an hour of us arriving, a large group of people arrived and the trailer was surrounded by three other tents.   They all appeared to be having a wonderful time.
A tent for tall people.
A view of another part of the camping ground, with the pop up caravans, complete with sleeping extensions at each end.
Another trailer tent with a platform and side extension.
We rented two cabins, with comfortable beds (linen supplied), but were very basic considering how much we paid for them.   A trip to the toilet block also meant negotiating around the tents.   Luckily there was a full moon.
The trailer tent in front of us, with a fly screened gazebo.   I would like one of those for the south of France, to keep the wasps away from us at meal times.
The camping ground had green grass, and plenty of shade from the enormous pine trees which surrounded the site.    The galahs (or were they cockatoos) also loved the trees and made such a racket early in the morning.     The toilet facilities, although very old, were clean and well maintained.    We especially liked the barbeque area, with its wooden benches and tables.

And most of all we were only a five minute walk from the beach.
