Show Homes - always worth a visit each year

I am currently writing this blog by candlelight.  All due to a storm knocking out the power.  Walter and Darren are trying to watch the tennis on Darren's mobile phone, as well as keeping an eye on the cricket score.

But I have my British 3 wifi device, with heaps of data on it, and an excellent connection.  I love 3's friendly countries, where you can use your data as if you are in the UK.  And I most appreciate it now that there is no power and no wifi.  Of course I could be generous and share my wifi.  But no.

Last week we spent a few hours visiting a group of show homes in Blackwood Park, not far from Moira's house.  Blackwood Park used to be a large farm where people with disabilities could work or train to work on other farms.  The land was government owned and was not meant to be sold off for housing, but so much for assurances.  When it suits the government, they find a way out.

Most of the houses are very large and very expensive.
All have discrete airconditioning, and various other luxury touches.
However, there is one road in and out of the development, which will cause a major problem if there is a bush fire.  No easy escape.  And bush fires are always a threat in the Adelaide hills.
A luxurious open space living area.
Walter sitting comfortably, and trying to look the part, on one of the couches.
A tastefully decorated bedroom.
Ensuites are a 'must have' in these homes.
A step up into the huge shower, double of course.  This en suite bathroom was enormous, with a large walk in robe too.
Two of the houses had movie viewing rooms.  Walter settled down on a couch, for a rest.
Individual chairs in this movie viewing room.
The outside dining room, complete with barbeque and kitchen.
Aah, the lap pool with shower at one end.  I really like the glass safety fence.
A regular swimming pool, with a landscaped garden around it.
All had beautiful gardens.  The garden below included a fish pond.
Prices ranged upwards from $400,000, on your own block of land, and without landscaping.  Basic prices did not include any extras, and its those extras that push the prices way up.   One of the show homes was for sale for $1.5 million.  People in the home counties in England will be thinking the houses are very cheap.  And I guess from their perspective they are reasonably priced.  And you certainly get more space for your money too.  Am I tempting anyone, especially in the middle of a cold and grey English winter.

The power is still out here.  Now my tablet battery is running out of charge.  Unfortunately I have no external charging unit.  Perhaps that is next on my 'must have' list.
