Peninsula Excelsior Hotel, Singapore

Today we walked for 15 kilometres, and completed 21,316 steps.  We arrived back footsore and tired.  After a swim in the pool and half an hour in the sauna, I feel human again and ready for tomorrow.

Tonight we also ate fried pepper rice with beef strips, very light, followed by a plate of sliced fresh fruit.  All in all it has been a very healthy day, except for McDonalds ice cream.

We are enjoying staying in the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel, which is close to Marina Bay, Singapore River, Chinatown and Raffles Shopping Centre.

The hotel used to be two hotels, the Peninsula and the Excelsior, but they are now joined together.  The lobby is central to the two hotels, and is underneath the pitched tent like roof, seen in the photograph below.  There are two swimming pools, a long one, great for short laps, and a deep kidney shaped one.  I feel really spoilt for choice.
Our main view is of the building opposite, the Peninsula.  Consequently we are in the Excelsior.

However we still have fantastic wider views of the financial centre of Singapore,
and the buildings which are to the left of Marina Bay.   The Singapore Eye is clearly visible.   The Cathedral and its surrounding lawns are in the foreground of the photograph below.
We have a view of the beginnings of a new building, with lots of action going on down there, until late at night.  In order that the surrounding roads are not messed up, all vehicles that leave the building site have their wheels washed before they drive away.  How is that for being fastidious.
I am currently sitting on a window seat, as I write this blog, and can see sparkling buildings everywhere.  A lovely large room also.

One little complaint, the bathroom is very tiny.  The smallest bathroom I have ever seen.
