Kuala Lumpur

Here we are, in Kuala Lumpur, or at least on the edge of the city.   Or more precise in the Holiday Villa Hotel, Subang Jaya, Selangor.    A slightly faded luxury hotel.    But luckily we are in renovated rooms on the 15th floor.    Walter and I have stayed here before, and we really liked the openness of the ground floor area, which is not airconditioned but kept cool with large fans.    Very old style, Malaysia (and Singapore).

We are of course jet lagged, and trying desperately to stay awake for a few more hours.   A few satay sticks downstairs in a small restaurant after I post this blog, will help us.

The Olympic sized swimming pool, with smaller pools beside it.    Very tempting.
Are we in Italy or France?   There are many ornate statues in the courtyard.
 More columns and wrought iron.
The many tall buildings, which house apartments, reflected in the water.     Selangor was once a lucrative tin mining area and now the mines have been flooded and small lakes created.
Our hotel rooms, with connecting doors, are enormous.    Scott lying on his bed, looking super trendy in his sunglasses that he bought from Poundland.
The beautiful green view from the bar area.   Everything is so lush,
including the plant that makes me shudder everytime I see it.   When we lived in Singapore, Donna, aged 1, chewed on the stem of one of them, and spent a couple of days in hospital.
The view from our very large window, which gives a mostly green picture, but I am amazed at the number of high rise buildings that have sprung up since we were here in 2006.
Off to eat our Satay sticks.   Delicious!
