Camping Malta, Poznan

I know that Camping Malta, sounds as if we suddenly flew out of Germany and landed in the warmth of Malta.   But sadly no.  Camping Malta is the name of the camping ground beside Lake Malta in Poznan.  I am not sure of the connection.

We woke early, as the light was streaming in through the windows, and we were cold, very cold.   I am sure the temperature dropped to below freezing during the night.    No sunshine, but at least it was not raining.

We set off early, and the sun began to shine.    Our hopes rose.
We saw a McCafe, and decided to stop, enjoy the sunshine, and have our morning cup of coffee.   Oh la la. I look very happy, and I should be, having had a very good cup of coffee, plus a dose of sunshine. Still too early to take off the fleece and scarf though.
And luckily I did not take off the fleece and scarf, as the sun disappeared, never to be seen again, or at least for a long, long time.

We travelled through the border, and into Poland, where Walter purchased some Polish currency, namely zlotych or zloty, five zlotys to the pound, and stopped at the next services so that we could get a taste of Polish cuisine, motorway cuisine that is.    The toasted rolls were very tasty too.

The brand new motorway from the border to Poznan was unbelievably good, as good as any motorway in France.   The toll system was the same as in France, except in the price, which was much, much cheaper in Poland.
After the satnav took us off the motorway at the wrong junction, we eventually arrived at the campsite.  The camping ground was full of German and Belgium motorhomes and caravans.   I think there was a rally on. We were on familiar grounds, language wise, at this campsite.
Lake Malta, is a long stretch of water, that is used for rowing and sailing, as well as being surrounded by other pleasure facilities, such as a dry ski slope, summer toboggan run, zoo park, thermal baths, playgrounds, plus many, many restaurants.   And mad cyclists who nearly ran us over on the paths.
The flag poles stand in readiness for a forthcoming event, the World Rowing Championships, which will be held from the 28th May to the 2nd June.
As the day progressed the clouds became heavier and heavier, so we predicted that it was going to rain. But we knew anyway, as we had looked up the weather forecast for Poznan.   Sometimes I prefer the old days when weather forecasts were unreliable, and you never knew the forecast when you were travelling anyway.   You always lived in hope of better weather the next day.
