Tring Hill

Last weekend we took the motorhome up to Tring in order to spend the weekend with Donna, Patrick, Lucy and their puppy, Poppy.  It was a really lovely weekend, very good weather, long walks and of course great company.

On the Saturday we went for a walk, up a small hill called Tring Hill, which is not part of the Chiltern Hills, although on the map the hill looks to be on the edge of the Chiltern Hills.   This walk was a warm up for the next few days, just to test us out, I think.

In order to get to Tring Hill, we walked across a small bridge over the A41, and then across fields to the entrance of the park, and Tring Hill.   This area, a large estate, once belonged to the Rothschild family.
Poppy stopped for a moment, just long enough to take a photograph of her.   Poppy loved being off the lead, and dashed everywhere, picking up all the lovely smells.    We did have to watch her, in case she ate horse or cow poo.   She is very partial to poo droppings.
Although the sky was a little overcast, the weather was generally mild, although a jumper was needed.    Once on the ridge, the paths went in different directions.    Luckily Patrick knew where to walk, otherwise we could have ended up in another village.
A folly!   This Victorian piece turned out to be a roof, columns and wall.    There was nothing behind.   Very interesting.   But impressive.

And what is this!   Mole hills of course.   An area full of juicy worms no doubt.
The sun came out, so we stopped for a moment, and had a rest.    So warming.
Donna, Patrick and Poppy enjoying the sunshine also.
And then back across the bridge to Tring, and a stop at a small pub for some light refreshments.
