Family Christmas

I am finally writing the Christmas blog.  And when I look at the older photographs they seem unreal.   So long ago, well two weeks plus a few days.   But so remote compared to our present life in Australia. Christmas was spread over two and a half weeks, due to our immediate family living in three countries, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Australia.    And presents spread over two and half weeks too.   Plus turkey in different formats.

Christmas Day with Emma, Steve, Jackson and Isabel.    Not a white Christmas, but cold outside, and dark by 4 p.m. A lovely day, with good food, and the first of our presents.     Steve prepared, including plucking, a pheasant which he roasted with the turkey.   Delicious.   In the photograph Steve proudly holds up the remaining pheasant leg.
The Christmas pudding, cooked by me,with the brandy burning brightly.
On Boxing Day we went to Tring for a few days, to spend time with Donna, Patrick, Lucy, Molly and the puppy, Poppy.    Emma, Steve, Jackson and Isabel also came up on Boxing Day so that we could have a family lunch, and to open our Christmas presents.  So of course there was more turkey, pieces rolled in bacon.    And delicious ham.  And over the next few days we also ate turkey snitzels.  Plus refreshing walks along the canals.
A very relaxing afternoon.
Discussing presents.
Lucy learning to play the guitar.   Sore fingers.
Then off to the Netherlands with Emma, Steve, Jackson and Isabel, to visit Aaron, Kylie, Mia, Abi and Raphy for more presents, and Raphy's birthday.   He was such an excited boy.
A combined celebration, birthday and Christmas.   And a very exciting few days, a trip to a theme park, ice skating and New Year, Dutch style, with plenty of fireworks.   We also ate left over turkey, in a dish called Turkey Tagine.
Finally to Adelaide, to visit Darren, Jay, Jespa and Scott, where the temeperature is now searingly hot.    Jay and Jespa opening their presents brought from the UK.    No turkey thank goodness, but fresh oysters.
Only five left.
 The remains!
Coffee time!   Trying to find some shade.
The Christmas and New Year season for 2013/14 is now closed. We can now look forward to next Christmas. Love it.
