Out and about in Kuala Lumpur

We were awake bright and early and ready to do the shops, or at least the fake goods market in Petaling Street.   This required us to travel for two stops on the monorail, which was almost like a fairground ride, but smoother.  Very pleasant.
But where are the safety barriers?  Broken some years ago no doubt.  Typical.
This one was coming towards us in the opposite direction.    Very smooth.
After a walk on an uneven pavement and dodging through the traffic we finally arrived at Petaling Street.   Too early, as the stall holders were just beginning to set up.   So off to a little hotel, for coffee and water.   It was still breakfast time.
We haggled over one purchase, and for once I joined in, and refused to spend anymore than my budget allowance.  Normally I am not a keen haggler.   More Chinese New Year decorations, umbrellas with balls attached.
A quick return to the hotel to leave our purchases and then off in the opposite direction to find a restaurant for lunch, and look around the shops.   And to play chicken with the traffic, not intentionally of course.   But cars and scooters come at you from every direction, side streets and alleyways included.  Pedestrian crossings are just extra lines on the road, and cars turn left, even if the lights are red.   I wonder how many pedestrians are knocked over each day.

Once on the footpath, this was a very pleasant street, and we found a lovely little restaurant where we ate prata with curry juice.
The motorbilkes and scooters line up at the corner, ready for a quick getaway when the lights change to green.   Suicide riders.

Rain!  In fact heavy rain. But at least it was not cold, and miserable, and bleak.   It only lasted for about an hour.   Luckily we were sitting inside the hotel.

Mee Goreng for dinner, simple, freshly cooked and cheap.   My favourite.
