Ice skating at Het Rond, Houten. A perfect activity for New Years Day. Cheap too. Two euros to hire skates and two euros for a session on the ice. The session appeared to be very flexible, and lasted as long as the skater had the energy to keep skating.
Aaron walking Raphy around on his two bladed skates. Perfect for a little boy. I should have asked if they had two bladed skates for seniors too. It has been years since I have worn skates, and I was not going to begin again on New Years Day. The thought of falling over on hard ice did not appeal to me.
And now Raphy is on his own. Well done Raphy. The little orange plastic push a long aid was also free to use too.
The group, Steve, Jackson, Mia and Abi, assembled in the corner to discuss strategies.
Abi skating confidently. When the canals are frozen over, the school takes the children out onto the ice for ice skating lessons, as part of the P.E. programme. Wonderful.
Steve lending a helping hand to Jackson, while Mia skates on ahead of them. P.E. skating lessons have certainly helped Mia and Abi. I think they have also enjoyed having the ice rink at the shopping centre in Houten.
Isabel not feeling so confident, but giving it a very good try.
Steve showing his skills at ice skating. I was very impressed. A very proficient skater.
Good form there.
Steve and Mia guiding Isabel, with Abi and Aaron (not on skates) coming up behind them.
A ride on the orange snail. Raphy enjoyed this most of all. No effort required on his part.
A little wobble from Jackson, but no falls thank goodness.
There they go again.
