A quiet day, washing, a stainless steel cutlery factory and another cruise.

A quiet day.  In brilliant sunny weather.   Perfect.

I was up at seven o'clock to put the first load into the washing machine.  In fact no one else wanted to use the machine, so I could have slept in, but one never knows on a campsite.

The camping ground was bathed in sunshine, and there was no cold breeze.  The people in the tents must have felt a lot warmer.
The view along the lake was superb, with the snow reflecting the sun rays.   Everything looked clean, and bright.
The camping ground emptied out by 10.30 and we almost had the place to ourselves.  Walter talking to one of our neighbours, a man from the Netherlands, who drives an open top BMW, and is on a camping tour.   He has been here before, and said that this site is one of the best around, for the views especially.   He was able to give Walter quite a bit of information about Norway.
 An empty camping ground.
After lunch we went on a tour of Hardanger Bestikk, Scandinavia's largest producer of stainless steel cutlery.  A fascinating tour, free, and we learnt everything there was to know about cutlery production.   The knives are imported, previously from Germany but now from Thailand.   Something to do with the special processes that are needed to make knives.   They only have stamping machines at the factory.
Another cruise, the continuation of the one we went on, on Saturday.   Only this time we went in the opposite direction, towards the outer reaches of the Hardangerfjord.   The tour ended at Norheimsund, which is where the tourists from Bergen board it.   A long day for them, twelve hours in all, by the time you add on the return bus journey to Bergen.

As the fjord widened the water was smooth, and still, almost reflection time.
The beginning of the outer reaches of the Hardangerfjord.
It was difficult to get a photograph of Norheimsund, as we were too close to the town, but I managed to get a photograph of the opening into the sound.
We are again surrounded by tents, new arrivals.  Perhaps the weather predictions are for warmer weather so the tent tourers have taken to the road.   Most people have been out in their shorts and tee shirts, soaking up the sun.   I think the temperature actually reached 17 degrees at one point.

We only noticed yesterday that there is a 25% VAT on most items here, except food which is 15%.

Off to Voss tomorrow.   We are changing campsites, in order to take the train into Bergen the next day.  This is not part of our original plan, but as there is a lovely new bridge and tunnel, rather than a slow ferry, then it makes it all possible.   And we have a toll badge so this reduces the cost of the tolls somewhat.   All looks really good.

We also have a small British campervan here now.   The first British van we have seen since arriving in Norway.
