Wallacetown

We are staying at Shona and Richard's house in Wallacetown, which is about 7 km from Invercargill.

They have two cats, who like to spend most of their day sleeping, and the night prowling the local district. George sound asleep on a comfortable chair.
And Alec sound asleep on one of the best chairs.
Their house is well set back from the main road.   There is a huge amount of grass at the front, which requires a ride on mower.   I told them they are lucky they do not have moles, as it would be a very rocky ride on the mower, with lots of mole hills.    The house is very large, four bedrooms, plus an office and workroom, as well as an open space kitchen, dining and lounge room, plus another large sitting room.    Luxury.
There is large playhouse, at the back, which is awaiting restoration.   Our grandchildren would love this little house.
Shona has a very large Christmas shop at the back, which is open from June until Christmas.    I have not been tempted to fill my suitcase up with Christmas goodies this year.
 The sign at the front.
They also bought the Wallacetown Tavern (still called the Greenroofs), which they then sold to their daughter.    A run down hotel, which is now rapidly gaining popularity, now that it is under keen management.
The view across the road from the house.
Shona emptying the dishwasher, and feeling very happy about it.
The sign welcoming people to Wallacetown.
Wallacetown, a small settlement with a country feel.    Very relaxing and quiet, except for all the huge milk trucks that thunder past, day and night.
