Moving house

The moving day for Donna and Patrick was last Saturday.    After months of difficulties in selling the house, it has finally happened, and they relocated to Tring, on the north western corner above London.   Selling houses in this country is a bureaucratic nightmare, with slow legal procedures, often long chains, which can fold at any moment, and general apathy about keeping to deadlines and firm contracts.  If the real estate nightmare is any indication of the general organisation within UK's political and economic system, it does make one wonder how this country manages to stay afloat, not literally of course.

But the moving day went really well, a very smooth operation, thanks to all concerned, and especially Patrick who knew exactly how to pack the van and move the furniture.    A sad day, all the same, for Donna, Scott and Lucy as they have lived in this house a long time.   All Scott and Lucy's lives in fact.

Furniture ready to be moved.
Super efficient storage in the van.
The television was the last item to be packed, due to Saturday being the first day of the Olympics, which we all watched with one eye as we packed up.    Britain was not doing so well this day.
And following the move, the big clean.   Scott giving the kitchen cupboards a good scrub.
James sprucing up the floor with the vacuum cleaner.
And finally the house looks so clean and tidy.    No longer Donna's home but a very clean and impersonal house.
And the next day in the new house in Tring, we could great organisation in getting their home set up at a super efficient pace.     Donna is very pleased with the new kitchen, with great storage.
And I tried to take more photographs, but of course the skies were very dark, and it was raining, as shown on the back windows of the photograph below.
All the inside photographs were just too dark.     But some rain is the order of the day still, here.
