On our way

Well we are away, in our new caravan.   After weighing all our goods and chattels, and positioning them correctly in our caravan, we are ready to try it out.

We followed my typed instructions, laminated so they would not get soggy in wet weather, and slowly hitched up the car.  So complicated this hitching up business.

All ready to go.
I would like to say it was an uneventful trip, but it was not quite so.  First stop, the service station to fill the gas cylinders up.  We ignored the man who accused Walter of not allowing him plenty of room to get into his car.  A caravan hater, no doubt.  Instead we concentrated on filling the gas cylinders.  This did not happen due to the very large screws in the filler blocking the gas nozzle.  Luckily we still had one full tank of gas.  A problem to rectify when we get home.

After manoeuvring the caravan past the petrol pumps, we were on the road again.  We reminded ourselves that this service station is just too difficult to use when towing a caravan.

As we were driving down the M23 a man waved us into a rest area.  What have we done wrong?   Nothing, but the door on one of the side cupboards had come open.  Luckily we had not lost anything.  Must remember to really check side doors properly.

After driving around Hove, on narrow streets, we finally found the caravan park.   The realisation hit us at that point that there was would be no u turns when towing a caravan.  Or reversing down a narrow one way street, which happened to us in the middle of Florence.  Route planning was going to be crucial.

Walter practising reversing the van onto our site.  And he did a pretty good job too.
Unhitching was much easier, as one can tell by the smile on Walter's face.  And the sun was shining too.
Here we are, all set up, including water and waste tanks, not seen in this photograph.  Oh, oh, just noticed when looking at this photograph. we have not covered up the hitch.  Now who is going to go out into the cold to attend to this task.
Time for a well deserved cup of coffee.
Our coffee machine, in pride of place in the television cupboard.
After having one cupboard in the motorhome, in which to fit in all our crockery and glasses, this is luxurious.  I love the racks.  So neat and tidy.
We are now sitting comfortably on our couches, listening to music, after having eaten  a home prepared casserole, heated in the oven.   All the fixtures and fittings work too.  Most impressed.

And most importantly we have not had an argument.
