Oponomi

We have seen some beautiful scenery today. Coffee is excellent too, as we found out when we stopped at a tiny town for our usual morning coffee. Luckily we have two quilts as it was extremely cold last night - no doubl glazing. The weather was glorious today - still need a jumper though. Opononi is a one horse town, with a beautiful view over a natural harbour with sand hills on the other side. I was amazed at how high the hills are on this very narrow part of the North Island. There are a lot of dairy farms. Cows have taken over from sheep. There are also a lot of rugged looking men in ute's, ansd if you are single and looking for a man, there are a lot of sun blasted ex surfie types living on their own in battered (some are pretty smart) camper vans.
The toilet - well I washed the plastic walls and floor with detergent and lots of water and we drained and flushed out the grey water tank. And now the area smells of detergent only. Walter rang Britz and they will not believe us! But it is all true. Mind you the toilet cassette area needs a good clean out too but that will be Walter's job tomorrow - lucky him! Thre are lots of positives about the van - kitchen area, driving, the beds and wonderful view out of the side and back windows.
Tomorrow we are going to try and get right to the top of the North Island and we are really excited about achieving this - mawe may stay in a camping site rather than a camping ground.
