Barossa Valley

The temperature - 40 plus. But undeterred we set off to visit the Barossa Valley for the afternoon.   Destination?  No, not to the different wine growers for a bit of free wine, called wine tasting.  Our destination was the lovely little township called Tanunda.   Home of Jacob's Creek wine.   But we were there to go shopping in all the boutique shops.
Andreena and I ready to set forth, not realising that the sign above our heads was for 'Tununda Chickens'.  This was not one of the boutique shops we had in mind.   How funny.
The quaint Lutherian church. The Barossa is a very Lutherian area due to the huge number of German immigrants that settled here 100 or more years ago. And brought their vines with them.
The huge steel wine vats, full of wine ready to send to the United Kingdom. Yes wine is mass produced in huge quantities for all the ready wine drinkers.  A huge market there.
A cycle path has recently been made from Gawler to Nurioopta.  So good to see. In fact there is a cycle track running alongside the Adelaide to Gawler highway too. Just a pity more people do not use this facility, but perhaps not in 40 degree heat.
There were lots of memories of previous visits to the Barossa, when we were much, much younger.  Then we would spend the afternoon sampling the delicious wines while our children played in the playgrounds thoughtfully provided by the wineries. At the end of the afternoon we happily drive back home,  without a care in the world.
Rolling, grain covered hills, running towards the range behind the Barossa valley.
There was much dust and smoke around, as can be seen by the very red sun, low in the sky at this time of day.
Andreena brought a lovely blue sundress and I bought an expensive lipstick, made with natural ingredients only.  When we arrived home I discovered the lipstick was made in France!
