We are about to leave Adelaide, and Aldinga Beach, reluctantly, as it is always hard to say goodbye to everyone.
I always have mixed feelings about South Australia. It is such a dry place, being the driest city, in the driest state, in the driest continent in the world. And with the dry climate comes very hot weather. However the city runs alongside a coast with some of the best and safest beaches around.
We lived here for 18 years, our children grew up here, we went to University and taught in schools here. And we have family and friends here, who we miss very much.
Before we leave I thought I would include some photographs that did not fit into any other blogs.
JD, the cat, and Elvis, the dog, not always very good friends. JD teases Elvis, and always looks satisfied when Elvis gets into trouble for jumping on him. Elvis just wants to play. But recently there has been a truce.
Plenty of koalas around this part of the world.I manged to lie under my umbrella a few times. Mostly it was too hot. And no cool breeze.
Holiday units at Goolwa. We stayed here a few times with our children. The owners of the caravan park built a pond and made canals and rented canoes. Amazingly it is still all there. The trees have grown but nothing else has changed.
It rained for a whole day. Heavily. Flooding everywhere. Glorious and so cool. Rain puddles on the outside table.
Billie Joe and Walter standing on her plot of land. Hopefully building will start soon.
The rain again. On Scott's precious motor bike.
My new hairstyle. A Jordanian stylist, trained in London, and working in a local hairdresser's shop. I was very impressed.
Everytime I walk past this piece of fake grass I laugh. Someone tried to mow it!
Birds on the electricity lines. They look like notes on a sheet of music.
JD sleeping on the cool wet grass. He loved the rain and sat outside in it. His white fur looked so clean.
The letter boxes. Lots of character. No front door deliveries down under.
Increasingly houses here have solar panels on the roof. This house wins the prize for the most solar panels that can fit on one roof.
Le Cornu's furniture store. The home of cheap and not so cheap furniture. Enormous. And rivals Ikea. But no meat balls though.
An evening walk. In the coolness and with a stunning sunset too.
Jay and Jesp waiting for their school bus, which picks them up and delivers them back home at the end of the day.
A very green house. Really stands out. I thought you would like this one, Kylie.
And finally, the sunset over Aldinga Beach. The end of another hot and sunny day.
Looking forward to another visit.
