Adelaide Zoo has changed considerably since we last visited it, some time during the 1980s. Once it was dry, quite treeless and the animals lived in small enclosures. Not so any more. It has been landscaped and is full of trees and plants, with a small number of animals living comfortably in their quarters. Apparently most of the larger animals, plus all the extra animals are kept in a larger zoo elsewhere. We were most impressed with the new layout.
Jespa with map in hand, and Jay, all ready for the zoo trip.
They loved sitting on the panda, not the real one of course. The real one was sound asleep. There are two pandas, on loan from China. Apparently Adelaide is one of 12 zoos in the world, where there are pandas. They are quite an attraction. We loved them.
Jay and Jespa enjoying their chips. We chose a healthier lunch, as we are looking after our waistlines. A bit late probably.
So peaceful. I bet there would be some action if we fell into the enclosure!
Is that so!
Only the giraffes were pacing around - in their too small enclosure. Perhaps they were only there for the summer holidays. They looked miserable. At least the elephant is no longer in this zoo.
I finally got a picture of some pelicans. Beautiful birds.
The wombat was fast asleep.
Almost as green as the Singapore Zoo.
