Edge Church

On Friday evening, we visited Edge Church with Billie-Joe, Jay and Jespa.   Edge Church is a Christian church in Reynella.    A very, very large church, with three smaller campuses in Adelaide and another very large church in Melbourne.   Edge Church in Reynella is highly visible as it is on a hill, and extremely large.   Inside there is a restaurant, coffee area, a shop, two very large halls, plus numerous smaller rooms (still very large).   On the Friday evening we were in the upstairs main hall, for a 1 1/2 hour worship, and Jay and Jespa were doing children's activities in the primary school age area.   There was also an area for infants and the other hall was being used by the teenagers who were having a disco and listening to music.

The entrance to Edge Church.
Inside the main hall,  there was a band, and about 6 vocalists.   There were three screens at the back, which reflected the pastor, singers and band.   During the collection, there were religious advertisements on the three screens.    By the time the show, sorry, I mean the worship, started this hall was full.
The pastor was a brilliant speaker, very Americanised, and very well trained in delivering his message.

I can now see why the mainstream churches are losing their congregations.    They just cannot compete with these Christian organisations which reach out to people, young and old, in a very modern context.

The church has a web site called www.edgechurch.com.
