Big things

Since I have been in Australia I have been searching  for 'the big things'.    Not sharks, nor snakes, nor even spiders and I am sure that I will come across some big spiders.    Australia once loved these 'big things' and people from far away came to pay homage to them, and get their photos taken in front of them.    And now I am having trouble finding one.   Perhaps Australians are not so proud of them now.

On the way to the Sunshine Coast we came across a small 'thing' announcing Strawberry World.    Not big enough I thought.
I was fascinated by this sign which indicated that there was a theme park nearby.   But it was not a 'big thing' either.
A travelling ATM!   Full of money!   Anyone could hook the trailer up and drive it away.   But not big enough.
Then Ian solved the problem and took us to 'The Big Pineapple'.    When the motorway was built it bypassed 'The Big Pineapple' and business went downhill until all there was left was a shabby large artificial 'pineapple'.    But an entrepreneur has bought 'The Big Pineapple' and the land around and already business is flourishing with weekend markets selling a wide range of goods.   'The Big Pineapple' has also had a clean up as well and is glowing once again.
There are still a few pineapple plants left and a few withered pineapples on the plants.    The plans are to plant new pineapple plants on the hill sides.    I can remember when the pineapple industry was flourishing in this region.   Sadly the macadamia nut industry has disappeared altogether.
The model railway is going to be opened again soon.
Of course we had our photograph taken in front of 'The Big Pineapple'.
A lovely arrangement of fresh pineapples and flowers.
And now I am on the lookout for more 'big things'.   They have not disappeared.
