While we were on the Sunshine Coast we visited some show homes. We bought our first house (a Jennings home) when we visited show homes in Adelaide in 1974. And then found that there were limitations on our budget when we went to build the same house on our block of land. We have never been tempted since. Still it was great to visit and get some ideas for renovating our house in the UK.
I must add that visiting show homes is a weekend activity. I suppose there were about 10 show homes in this development. We only saw 5 of them as it became an overkill of ideas and smart homes.
This bedroom had walls of sliding doors so that you could sleep in the fresh air. This is based on the idea of old outback homesteads where you slept on the verandah in the summer, but blocked off from the wildlife by fly wire. I am not sure what the home owners do in these modern homes, when the mosquitoes and midges attack at night. And they will because the houses are close to the canals. Still it looked very modern and very attractive on a bright sunny day. Each house has two or three dining areas. The group assembled around one of the tables. I think they look the part!
Inside/outside living. And a choice of eating areas too. I am just jealous of so many choices.
Are we inside or outside?
The plunge pool with a little waterfall on the side. The protective glass fences are much better than the old wrought iron ones. No serious swimming in this pool!
I loved the stuffed rabbits sitting on this double bed.
A view of the canal from the balcony. Very nice!
Another luxury bedroom.
By the fifth house we were all exhausted so called it a day. This is the study by the way. No door to close off the mess of papers and computers.l
I am sure we will visit lots of show homes before we finish our holiday. I love them.
