Mooloolaba

When we went to the Sunshine Coast we stayed with Andrea and Ian.    They have recently purchased a house on the edge of one of the canals in Mooloolaba.    It has a superb outlook, a large garden, a swimming pool and they have their own jetty.    No boat as yet.  Just two canoes.  The house was built in the 1980's and is badly in need of renovation so lots of hard work ahead.

However, in the meantime, they still have a comfortable home, and the location is just wonderful.   The bird life (feathered type) is fascinating, with brightly coloured lorikeets and other very musical and unidentified types.    We were woken up early, both due to the brilliant sunshine and the noisy birds.

Walter and I went for a swim at 7 a.m. each morning.  The pool was not long enough for laps but we still had a good splash about.  The water is still too cold for Queenslanders, but for us it was perfect.    A great way to start the day.
The huge holiday house below belongs to Steve Irwin's widow and children.    Sadly not used very often. I dare say the boat was used often by Steve Irwin when he was alive.    Very sad.   The house is diagonally opposite Andrea and Ian's house.
The view down the canal, with each mooring and a few boats clearly visible.    There are sharks in the water, and they do not swim around with their fins above water, as shown in the movie 'Jaws'.    You learn something new every day!
A view of the back of the house.    The main part of the house is upstairs with fantastic views over the canal.    We stayed in one of the two rooms downstairs, with direct access to the swimming pool and back garden.
They have two enormous cycads.    This one is female.
And this one is male.    So obvious!
We went out for a lovely meal at an Indian restaurant.    Delicious food.
We had a lovely stay there, and really enjoyed being with Andrea and Ian.
